EATS • BALI • Jamie's Italian KUTA

We have previously dined at Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant in Kuta while staying at Hard Rock Hotel, as it is sort of attached to the hotel.  And loved our experience here, so much so that we had to return.

Last time we were kid-free as they were at their Aunties hotel for the night, so we decided to get them involved this time.

It was later on in the night around 8pm. In Bali we seem to eat a lot later when the sun has gone down and it’s a little cooler, not to mention the mass amounts we eat at our resorts buffet breakfast.

We asked to be seated upstairs as this is where we were put last-time, you get a nicer atmosphere upstairs. It is cooler with the aircon and you get away from the hustle and bustle of the Kuta chaos.

For entrée Erin decided to order Garlic Bread, which was just melt in your mouth fantastic.

Matt ordered the calamari for starters and the presentation is unlike any calamari dish I have ever seen. In fact every single dish that was handed to us was presented perfectly.

We all shared our plates of food, much like we did in all the places we dined at in Bali.

Then for mains we ordered a Jamie’s Pizza, which walking home back to our hotel, the left overs became the dinner for a few locals.

And then also ordered the Chicken al mattone- happy marinated chicken with a creamy wild mushroom sauce, lemony rocket and parmesan.

The girls got to order their own little things and Hayley ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese, which is actually the closest thing to Nonna’s pasta back home.

And Madi ordered the Chicken lunchbox, which to our surprise actually came in a cute lunchbox with all picnic themed food- a chicken wrap, beetroot chips, chips and a shake it salad.

For dessert though we got a tear jerking surprise from our waiter. At one stage during the night we mentioned to the waiter it was our honeymoon as he asked our reason for holidaying in Bali. So our dinner was present on this giant 1 mitre long serving board with a tiramisu on one end and a raspberry pavlova on the other side. In the middle was three candles and the words Happy Honeymoon written in chocolate.

The waiter lit two of the candles leaving the middle one unlit, he then explained that these candles resembled our love for one another and the unity that is our marriage.  We were to each grab a candle and light the middle candle together and blow out our individual flames and this resembled us now burning as one flame together. I thought this was extremely special and made for one of the best honeymooning experiences at a restaurant.

The girls had an absolute ball and the waiting staff kept them more then pre-occupied with chats and an activity sheet with stickers. This was a real beautiful way to end our night off.

We will be returning to Jamie’s in 2019 and we’re very excited to see what changes come to the menu this time! I am sure it will not disappoint.
