One thing we craved
while in Bali was souvlaki’s so with a little researched we found a place in
Seminyak called Nostimo’s. We came to learn later on after dining in their Ubud
restaurant that there was more then one in Bali as well.
The Seminyak setup is a
lot bigger and can cater for a lot more people. We got a large table upstairs
as we were travelling with family and there was 7 of us. The whole downstairs part was packed, but
upstairs we basically had to ourselves with a waiter waiting to take our
order.
When we arrived they
brought two plates of complimentary pita bread with oil and balsamic- so good
on a hot night.
We ordered the mixed
grill for two $21.50 and pita bread with tzatziki. The mixed grill had gyros, pork souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, French
fries and salad. You know how they say don’t eat salad in Bali, we all ate it..
and none of us were sick! This place is clean and owned by European’s so they
have very Western Standards in the kitchen.
The girls got chicken
and pita to make their own little souvas, along with some tzatziki sauce.
Throughout the night we
all ordered plenty of refreshing drinks as well as more then enough Bintang’s
for Matt.
Our bill was a tiny
grand total of $46. We actually couldn’t believe it. We also couldn’t walk down the stairs of the
restaurant to roll into a cab afterwards… instead we opted to walk it off,
going for a 3.5km walk in the night through Seminyak to our resort.
After not being able to stop at just visiting Nostimo's once this trip, we had to go back a second time just to make sure it was as good as we remembered. And yup, it sure was.The whole experience was
much the same at Nostimo’s Ubud, we got the very last table in the restaurant.
The place was packed and the food smelt divine- you could smell the meat
grilled on open flames.
We did however get
exactly the same meal as you get a bit of all the best parts of the menu on one
share platter- plus we love sharing food.
The décor is quite consistent with both the restaurants and both of them
also had the super cute love swing out the front, which the girls loved
lounging on both times.
