EXPERIENCE • BALI • Devdan Treasure of the Archipelago NUSA DUA

Last time we came to Bali we intended on heading to see the Devdan show while we we’re staying in Nusa Dua, but we simply ran out of time that trip.

But this time around in May we made it our mission to get to the Devdan show (a decision we will not regret).

We did some of our own research and discovered that it is best to have dinner before the show, or even after the show at Bali Collection as there isn’t any food in the theatre as such. But we decided we would order some food using Go Jek and had them drop it off to our hotel, eating down by the beach.

The shows are on only on selected days - Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat (7:30pm-9:30pm).

We had Category A seats, which cost around 1,105,000rp ($115aud) about the same as what you would pay at back in Australia to see something similar. We saw this as a fair price, but you can get tickets that are as low as 500,000rp ($50AUD) and see the exact same show just different seats.
But looking around the theatre, no seat is a bad seat at all.

Walking into the theatre the stage was huge and the props on set were almost real like. It was also nice and cold, which was nice for a change in Bali- there was one stage there Erin was looking for a jumper as it got freezing. But this may have been due to the fact there was fire and flames on stage not long afterwards.

The show started around 7:30pm and went until 9:15pm, which in our opinion was the perfect amount of time. We of course in family style got there smack bang on 7:30pm in a mad rush there. But we made it with about 5 minutes to spare before the actual show started anyway.

We don’t want to give too much away with this show, as we don’t want to be the spoiler alert. But can we say WOW. These performers choreography was in sync and down pat, the girls were literally sitting on the edge of their seats the whole show.

But a long story short it is about two kids who break away from their tour group and find treasures from different parts of Indonesia. They then observe and take part in each areas tribal or ceremonial dance. It was just stunning to watch and see the beauty that is Indonesia.

All of our favourite part would have been the water dance part, where the theatre literally rains! No you don’t get wet, but you will if you’re down in the first couple of rows.

If you want to truly experience Bali in a different light then we believe you should get yourselves along to this attention grabbing show.

During the show the girls both got up and took part in a traditional bird dance with the performers dance in the isles, teach the kids the moves of the dance. You couldn’t put a price on the kids faces, it was simply priceless.
